“A teacher should approach their role with humility, adapt to the individual needs of each student, and constantly seek new ways to improve their teaching methods. Cultivating a warm and supportive environment is essential, as students thrive and progress more quickly when they feel encouraged and valued.”
At L’arabe maîtrisé, Dolly collaborates closely with two teacher-translators, working together to refine and develop the center’s teaching methodology. Their shared commitment ensures a dynamic and enriching learning experience tailored to each student’s journey in mastering Arabic.

Who we are
It all started here
L’arabe maîtrisé is the virtual version of CALAM (Centre d’Apprentissage de L’Arabe Moderne), founded by Firas Alzain over ten years ago. The LAM method is strongly inspired by the proven CALAM method and primarily focuses on oral expression. This approach enables learners to navigate everyday situations and quickly apply their knowledge in practical contexts. Firas developed his method by drawing on both his academic background and his hands-on teaching experience. His years of study in Damascus and Paris, along with his teaching experience in Syria and France, have allowed him to continuously refine his methodology to best meet learners’ needs.
Our Arabic teachers
Dolly Arbaji and Nadine Baz took over L’arabe maîtrisé in 2022 and have since been working on adapting the method to online teaching through videoconferencing. In fact, Dolly defended a dissertation in 2024 titled Encourager les interactions entre apprenants dans le cadre de la classe virtuelle (Encouraging Interactions Between Learners in the Virtual Classroom), focusing her research on how to fully harness the potential of online courses, directly inspired by her experiences with students. Her studies in Arabic at the Sorbonne and in translation at USJ (Beirut) allowed her to develop the linguistic skills necessary for teaching Arabic while also experiencing the learning process firsthand. This gives her a highly complementary perspective to that of Nadine, who grew up in Lebanon.
Their didactic discussions continually enhance their teaching methods, and they are now collaborating with Gaëlle, who recently joined the team and has already demonstrated remarkable energy and engagement with both her colleagues and students.
